is a writer, Death Studies scholar and senior lecturer in interpersonal communication and microsociology at the Faculty of Letters, University of Bucharest.

With a multidisciplinary background that combines communication, philology, sociology, philosophy, arts, religious studies and medicine, she has published extensively on the socio-anthropology of death, sociological aspects of the sacred, cultural differences in thanatology, and various epistemological and theoretical challenges in the field of Death Studies. She was a principal Investigator in the European research consortium “Digital Death. Transforming History, Rituals and Afterlife” (DiDe) funded by EU CHANSE and UEFISCDI (2022-2025). Adela also exhibits her paintings and publishes poetry.
